The Theme of the Exercise:

The new scenario for CZECH CYBERTRON 2024 is based on actual cyberattacks that have occurred in recent years, such as the attack on the Oldsmar water cleaner in Florida in 2021, where an attacker was able to contaminate the water with 100 times more sodium hydroxide, or the takeover of a blast furnace in the German steelworks. These attacks were also recorded repeatedly at airports this summer, in drinking water treatment plants, and at companies dealing with energy transfer. This type of attack is currently often duplicated. That is why it will be the subject of the cyber exercise.

Tasks for Students:

CZECH CYBERTRON 2024 will assign tasks in which students will learn to predict the behaviour of attackers, propose and then implement procedures to detect the attack, apply effective countermeasures and investigate the attack. The event will include an explanation of the practical process of handling a cyber security incident and its escalation, requesting the cooperation of security forces and implementing a recovery plan. The participants will follow the new European NIS2 Directive.

Technical Equipment:

Once again, we have focused on the illustrative form of the exercises in which working models of the relevant production lines will be used. In practical training, students will develop their knowledge using the latest industrial automation equipment and technology units, especially from the company SIEMENS. A fully functional model of a production line, controlled by a system of the SCADA company, will be used. The participants will learn about the security of industrial technology in practice.
